Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM-GHANA) is a local independent non-profit organisation based in Tamale-Ghana and registered by the Registrar General’s Department (RGD), under the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179) on 26th February 2020. 

GEM-GHANA is a dedicated and passionate organisation committed to fostering empowerment and advocacy for girls and women, including those living with disabilities. Our primary focus revolves around promoting gender equality and inclusivity, recognizing the unique challenges that girls and women face especially those with disabilities face in various spheres of life. At the heart of our mission lies the belief that every female, irrespective of her ability, deserves equal opportunities, rights, and support to live fulfilling and empowered live.

We operate with the goal of creating a more inclusive society by providing tailored programmes and initiatives that cater specifically to the needs of girls and women including those with disabilities. Through educational opportunities, leadership development, advocacy for rights and access, as well as support for health and wellness, we aim to dismantle barriers and create an environment where all girls and women, regardless of their abilities, can thrive and achieve their full potential. Our commitment extends to fostering a more compassionate and understanding community, advocating for policy changes, and ensuring that girls and women with disabilities have the resources and encouragement they need to succeed in their lives.

With a strong emphasis on strategic collaborative partnerships and community engagement, we initiate programmes that foster inclusion, challenge societal norms, and empower girls and women including those with disabilities to live their dreams. We stand firm in our dedication to creating a more equitable society where every individual, irrespective of their gender or abilities, has the chance to flourish, contribute, and lead lives rich in opportunities and accomplishments.

In all areas of our work, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)guide us to integrate achievable strategies to inspire, educate and empower adolescent girls and young women to live those set goals. 

To create a society where girls and women including those with disabilities in Ghana are empowered, equal, and self-reliant, leading to positive transformation in communities.

To advance the rights and empowerment of girls and women including those with disabilities through knowledge sharing, skills development, entrepreneurship training, advocacy, and community engagement.
